Once a month, Troop 388 is on a new adventure, building Scouts' confidence, self-reliance, and team-work skills in unique and memborable locations.
These locations provide the backdrop on which our Scouts practice the skills they learn in our weekly meetings. Our outings also give Scouts the chance to fulfill requirements necessary to earn the Eagle Scout rank.

2008
Camp Durant - Climbing (with opportunity to earn Climbing merit badge)We're going back to Camp Durant, but not for Summer Camp! This time, we'll use the Camp Durant climbing tower for both open climbing as well as for any Scouts interested in earning the Climbing merit badge. If you would like to forgo climbing, canoeing, fishing, and orienteering (up to 5-mile course) will be available.
Uwharrie National Forest - AT PreparationOur first time to the Uwharrie National Forest, we'll be packing 20 miles in lush NC forest in preparation for a longer trip to the AT this summer!
Umstead Park - Day HikeTaking a shorter outing this month, but still building our strength for our upcoming Uwharrie National Forest and Appalachian Trail trips.
Umstead Park - AT Hike PreparationWe're heading to the Appalachian Trail (AT) in May, so it's time to strap on our packs and prepare!
Topsail Island - The surf, the sand, the winter!Returning to Dr. Brewer's Cabin for our usual February outing, we'll be working on Scout skills for our younger Scouts and Leadership training for our older Scouts.
Appalachian Ski MountainOur second winter ski trip, this time to Appalachian Ski Mountain outside Boone, NC.

American Armoured Foundation - Tank MuseumA journey through the exciting world of tanks! With over 115 tanks, 150 machine guns, and 65 small arms, the museum is sure to please.
Hanging RockOur first trip to the tucked away jewel, Hanging Rock. Combining a little bit of the best features of Raven Rock with Pilot Mountain, this adventure may well prove to be one of our most memorable.
Occoneechee Council CamporeeThe 2007 Occoneechee Council Camporee!
Merchant's Mill PondTime for a little Carolina bog canoeing in the unique Merchant's Mill Pond State Park! Bring your trunks along for the water, but don't forget your compass! Orienteering will abound for those needing advancement.
Appalachian Trail 20-milerStrap on those packs, and let's hit the trail! Twenty miles (!) along the Appalachian Trail (AT) starting where we exited the AT last. We are continuing toward our goal to hike all of North Carolina's AT. This trip has a physical fitness requirement, so be working out!
Topsail Island - The surf, the sand, the winter!We return to Mr. Brewer's Bungalow for a different type of camping trip: a leadership workshop where we will camp, cook, and eat indoors. Youth taking the leadership training will work on leadership skill building throughout the trip.

Pamplin Historical ParkA day trip to historic Pamplin Park in Petersburg, VA. Pamplin Park features The National Museum of the Civil War Soldier, Tudor Hall Plantation, the Field Fortifications Exhibit, living history demonstrations, and much more!
Pilot MountainA long weekend in North Carolina's Piedmont, where we'll run a multi-mile orienteering course, hike, and cook some fantastic meals!
Falls District CamporeeOur first district Camporee!
Raven Rock OvernighterAlmost 2 years to the day since our first Raven Rock adventure, we're back to "The R-Rock" for another backpacking filled stretch.
Fleming Cabin and FarmHeading back to Mr. Fleming's awesome cabin and farm, where we'll introduce new Scouts to the patrol method in the field, work on rank advancement, and tour Fort Branch. Upon our return to Raleigh, we'll head to a local pool to complete our summer camp swim test and pass tenderfoot water safety requirements.
U.S.S. Yorktown Outing featuring Webelos BridgingMoving outside North Carolina for the first time, Troop 388 looks toward the Maritime Museum at Patriot's Point, where we will stay on and visit within the U.S.S. Yorktown. Featured on this trip will be the Webelos bridging into our Troop in a ceremony that's not to be forgotten!
Leadership Training Workshop at Boater's LaunchWe return to Mr. Brewer's Bungalow for a different type of camping trip: a leadership workshop where we will camp, cook, and eat indoors. Youth taking the leadership training will work on leadership skill building throughout the trip.
Weekend Trip to Fleming CabinRace to build a fire using only the most primitive artifacts. Take aim down range and bust crackers, clay, and paper targets to show your rifle mastery. Build a rope bridge to cross deep ravines. Just some of the fun activities we'll find in Tarboro.

An Evening with the StarsDuring the day, we'll work on First Aid merit badge requirements, then planet watch during the early evening at Jordan Lake.
Boater's Launch at Topsail IslandOur first adventure to an ocean venue and our first joint Webelos and Troop venture, Boater's Launch at Topsail Island promises to offer new opportunities and new excitement!
Pilot MountainA weekend trip to one of North Carolina's beautiful mountains, where we'll spend Saturday hiking and exploring.
Falls Lake WeekenderTo ease back into the swing, we're planning a cooking and first-aid intensive trip to nearby Falls Lake, Rolling View campground.
Falls Lake WeekenderWith Summer Camp just around the corner, we've brought our adventures closer to home this month with a weekend trip to Falls Lake.
Appalachian Trail 10-milerStrap on those packs, and let's hit the trail! Ten miles along the Appalachian Trail (AT) starting in the extreme Southwest of North Carolina (at the Georgia/North Carolina border), this will be the first of a series of our outings along the AT. Our goal in the series is to hike all the AT in NC.
Merchant's Mill Canoeing WeekenderFull weekend trip to the Merchant's Millpond, where we will canoe into our campsite, learn necessary first aid skills, prepare delicious camp meals, and have a great time!

Cliffs of the Neuse "Car Camping" OvernighterOvernight trip to Cliffs of Neuse, where we'll practice preparing Patrol meals, fire lays, and orienteering.
Morrow Mountain "Stop & Drop" WeekenderWeekend trip to Morrow Mountain, at which we'll focus on preparing delicious mouth-watering camp meals, hiking and orienteering along scenic trails, and improving our knot skills.
Raven Rock OvernighterIn this action-packed overnighter, we'll hike into our reserved campsite at Raven Rock State Park, set base camp, then hike to and explore Raven Rock itself.
Umstead Day HikeFor our two new Scouts and our Troop's first outing, a 2-mile trek through Umstead Park was excitement from start to finish!
