'Recent rains across the state, while not ending the drought, are sufficient to make carefully tended open burning safe to reduce the amount of dry forest debris and cut the potential for larger, more intense and harder-to-control fires later in the year, especially during the spring fire season.
DENR and its Division of Forest Resources will continue daily monitoring of conditions to determine if the burn ban needs to be reinstated.'

Scout Sunday is February 10 at Greystone Baptist. Make plans now to attend and show our support and appreciation to our Chartering Organization. Details will follow via email.
We have posted details on our upcoming ski trip. Please confirm your attendance ASAP so we may finalize cost. Also, note that Friday (17-January) is a teacher workday. This is the King holiday weekend. It will be extremely crowded on the slopes on Sat/Sun and the lift lines will be worse than Disney! This is the reason for skiing on Friday and we are blessed to have the day off from school.
Scouts: arrive between 7:30am and 7:45am for an 8:00am departure to the Tank Museum.
(1) We will return between 5pm and 7pm; parents will be called to confirm return time. (2) Remember to bring a bag lunch.
Details on our upcoming trip to the AAF Tank Museum are now available. Please confirm your attendance as soon as possible.
We have extra 11oz caramel, the little tins, and extra butter lights, plus a few of the 3-way and 5-way tins, and a 30 pack. These are extra popcorns we have left over from the original order. The most we have left is the 11oz caramel tins. We just have a few days of sales left and I'd like to get these sold. So especially any of the small caramel tins that we sell can probably be delivered next Monday.
The removal of the IRIS flowers at Rex Hospital is canceled for tonight (Thursday October 25) - due to the rain. They will take them down on Sunday (October 28) at 2pm, and they will get other volunteers to assist with the take down.
November is upon us, and the leaves are finally changing. We're off to Hanging Rock to catch a glimpse of the fall transformation.
Attention Scouts needing service hours for rank advancement: Troop 388 is volunteering to set up and break down Iris flowers for NAMI's 'Celebration of Courage'. This is a community awareness event as well as a fund raiser for NAMI of Wake County.

Our plans for this coming Saturday 4/21/07 are as follows: Time: 1:30, Location: Umstead Park - Reedy Creek Entrance (same as last time off I-40/Harrison exit) Bring pack with approx. 20-25% of your bodyweight Proper Boots and Socks with liners is a must. This is a mandatory hike for ALL AT hike participants. See you on the trail!
We are relieved and joyed that SAR crews have found Michael, alive, near where he went missing 3 days ago. Scouts, take this opportunity to reflect on the buddy system.
Our prayers go out to Michael Auberry, his family, and the Scouts and Scouters of Troop 230 (Old North State Council), who are looking for Michael lost in Western North Carolina.

The 4D Patrol made it known they were at the 2006 Falls District Camporee by winning two Blue Ribbons in Troop/Patrol events. Will F. and Edward M. won the Canoe Race and Blake E. won Indian Wrestling for his weight class! Way to go guys!

Troop 388 has instituted a new election policy: no one may hold the same elected position for two consecutive terms, so long as other candidates are eligible to fill the position.

The calendar had the locations for the upcoming popcorn weekends switched. The correct locations are now posted: Olde Raleigh shopping center on the 15th and Cameron Village on the 22nd.
The annual Troop 388 popcorn sale starts this Wednesday with a pre-sale, then goes into high gear this Saturday with a show-and-sell. Our goal is to double our last year's sales. Can we do it? You bet, with your help!

Unforeseen conditions require us to move our hike this weekend further up the Appalachian Trail. Remember this is the longest backpacking trip we've had, so double check that you are prepared!. If you forget an item, there's no option to get a replacement.
Make sure you've got your calendars marked for April 30th, from 9am - 2pm. We will be cooking lunch and desert (dutch oven treats) with our brother Cub Scout Pack 33 and erecting a camp site.
